EQUITY HOLDING IN ONE OF THE LARGEST BIO APPLE PLANTATION IN MACEDONIA

Media Release – 16.07.2013
Agriculture is the production of food and goods through farming. Agriculture was the key development that led to the rise of human civilization , with the husbandry of domesticated animals and plants creating food surpluses that enabled the development of more densely populated and stratified societies.

LIVIA decided to invest in agriculture to achieve both, a return on investment and to contribute to the sustainability of fruit cultivation. Macedonia offers very good conditions for fruit cultivation especially for apple plantations. This comprises weather conditions like rainfall, number of sun hours, angle of incidence of the sun’s radiation and the large gap between heat and cold by night and day. Additionally, the nutrient-rich soil and relatively low costs are advantages of an engagement in fruit growing in Macedonia.

With about 165 ha the planation is one of the largest of its kind in the Republic of Macedonia. The agricultural holding is based on an organic farming certificate and only uses latest technology in all areas. The high-yield harvest is destined for the German organic food market.
