ACQUISITION OF PALAZZO "TRON" IN VENICEMedia Release - 13.11.2018
LIVIA GROUP has acquired the historic Palazzo „Tron“ in Venice.
The new property is located in the heart of Venice next to the Grand Canal on the side of San Marco and in immediate vicinity of the well-known Rialto Bridge. The Venetian noble family Tron whose most famous member, Nicolò Tron, served as the Duke of Venice from 1471 to 1473 former owned the historic building. In the late 1940s, Ernest Hemingway resided in a magnificent apartment of the building. The former owner, Nanyuki Franchetti, was a good friend of the world-famous writer and was his inspiration for the literary figure of Baron Alvarito in Hemingway's novel "On the River and in the Woods", published in 1950.
As part of the "European heritage" project, the LIVIA GROUP has already acquired numerous historical objects. The aim of this project is to preserve European culture and promote cultural heritage. The character, location and period of origin of the properties are very diverse. They range from the royal castle Hofhegnenberg in Bavaria (built between 1155 and 1555), castle Frankenberg located at Steigerwald (built around 1254), a chivalrous building in the center of La Valletta, Malta (built 1699), a mountain farm from the 16th/17th century in Tyrol to the fourth oldest winery in South Africa, first documented around 1690. Moreover, LIVIA owns one of the most important buildings next to Lake Starnberg in Bavaria: the "Palais Sonnenhof", which was built in 1912 in the style of a French castle.
Hence, the Venetian Palazzo "Tron" extends the project "European heritage" by another precious object.
In 2014, LIVIA has already acquired the ancient monastery "Convento di Sezzate" (built in the 12th century A.D.) which is situated 20 kilometers south of Florence.
The careful renovation of the palazzo and the purchase of other secular objects in Italy are currently in planning.
