With its roots in the late post-war period and influenced by the student movements of the 60s and 70s, contemporary art is defined by the reshaping of outdated social structures, which triggered new artistic movements overthrowing traditional techniques and styles. Exploring bold, new and contemporary ways of expressing the desire for a “better world”, the contemporary artist casts old boundaries and rules aside to depict an era of greater social participation and responsibility throughout the world. It is in this spirit of radical exploration and raw emotion that LIVIA has carefully selected numerous works of internationally renowned, contemporary artists. Many of these works continue to be displayed in the world’s leading museums, such as MOMA and the Tate Gallery, to name but a few. Making many pieces of the LTC collection accessible to the public has been a conscious decision to ensure that people from all walks of life continue to enjoy and find inspiration in these works of art.
